Ingrid Zupančič
Mother, wife, teacher, singer and ukulele player

She started her musical journey as a little girl, singing at every given opportunity. From kindergarten onwards, she often performed at various events.

The stage and the microphone have always attracted her. She sang in a choir, and for 7 years she studied solo singing with a well-known singing teacher, Dada Kladenik. She often expressed her feelings in songs. As a 15-year-old girl, she performed her original song on the Orion programme on RTV SLO. A year later, she performed at the Eurovision Song Contest - EMA as a backing vocalist for Bepop. She missed playing an instrument while singing, so she picked up a guitar and learned some basic chords. During her studies, she also learned to play the piano.

She first started playing the ukulele in 2014, when she was studying for a professional exam, and played simple tunes to liven up her study breaks. In the following years, she became a mum and got a job in a primary school, which kept her quite busy. But music was always calling her back and so she slowly started down that path again.

Today she runs a music club at school. She has started playing the ukulele again for a change. The ukulele has completely taken her over. For her birthday, her friends bought her an electroacoustic ukulele and she started to take things more seriously. In the spring of 2021, she asked a friend if she could join the band and that's how she became part of the Ukestra story. Since autumn 2021 she has been creating and performing with the band, where she is an important member, playing and singing in the group.
